William Fox Pitt fell during the cross-country phase at Le Lions d’Angers and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The Olympic medallist was riding Reinstated in the 2015 World Championships for Young Horses on Saturday, October 17, when he fell at obstacle 20, an owl hole.
Emergency teams immediately stepped in to help and Fox Pitt was quickly taken to the Angers hospital, where it emerged he had suffered a head trauma.
According to a statement by British Eventing, he is sedated and under constant observation.
“William’s family and support team are very grateful for all the concern expressed,” stated BE. “There will be further updates when more information becomes available.
His horse, Reinstated, was not injured in the fall.
