A seven-year-old Welsh Section-A broodmare that has only been shown twice this year has notched up some impressive results. Delami Stud’s Brynrodyn Blodwen, by the Welsh Pony and Cob Society sire ratings winner Cwmhendy Buster, headed the junior mares at the Royal Welsh Show in the usual strong company.

Shortly after that, at the Welsh National Championships, she won her broodmare class, stood Section-A champion, claimed the prestigious silver medal and took the overall in-hand supreme honours.

Blodwen, whose foal at foot, Delami Bravado by Dukeshill Dot Com, has been sold to the Costello family, was bought from Gareth and Mavis Parry of Brynrodyn Stud five years ago.

“She’s bred three foals for us,” said Delami’s Danielle Waller. “Her two-year-old filly Delami Boudicia is retained at stud, and her yearling colt, Delami Bohemian, is back at the stud being produced for the Coope family. Both are by Delami’s resident stallion Sunwillow Galong.

“She’s the nicest natured mare you will ever find — a baby could sit in the stable with her and she wouldn’t hurt them. She is so laid-back but lights up in the show ring.”

Brynrodyn Blodwen will have a year off from matron duties, and will be put back in-foal for 2017.
