Help British native breeds become model horses

Somewhat outrageously, model horses of popular British native breeds such as Welsh Cobs and Exmoor ponies have not been available to buy.  You can help them become a reality by supporting a new campaign led by model horse emporium Utterly Horses.

Becky Benfield, who founded Utterly Horses aged 16, has designed a new range of model horses that includes British breeds such as Welsh Cobs, Dales, Fell, Exmoors and Welsh Section Cs – all  previously unavailable in model form.

copperfoxdgreyconnemaraIt’s a costly business, however, creating these models from scratch. So far the “Copperfox” collection includes a Welsh Cob, a Connemara and an Exmoor pony, all available in seven colours and inspired by real examples of these breeds, ensuring they are anatomically accurate.

But in order to help fund the creation of tiny replicas of other British breeds such as Dales, Fells and Welsh Section Cs, Becky needs to raise £25,000 and has thus launched a crowd-sourcing campaign via

“For years customers asked us for these breeds but no version existed,” Becky tells Derby House. “So, in true British style, we have taken it upon ourselves to solve that problem and are creating Copperfox Model Horses, a company specialising in model horses of British breeds.”

Those who pledge more than £50 to the Kickstarter campaign will be among the first to receive the model horses (along with the Copperfox supporters’ pack), while backers who pledge £2,500 or more can design a (British!) model horse that will be added to next year’s range.
